DOMAIN REGISTRATION
A website is a beautiful office and showroom on the Internet where you do business: interact with anybody anywhere in the world, store and display, and sell, if you wish, ANYTHING you want. However, that beautiful office/showroom must have a name by which people will know it, otherwise, people will not know what to look for when they enter the immense market called Internet. That name is known as Internet Domain Name and that office/showroom is your Internet Domain. Once you choose a name and register it, nobody else in the whole world can have exactly that name.
Domain names are those names you see written as www.something.com. Domain names can end in dot com or dot net or dot org or dot info or in any of all the dots approved by the international body that regulates Internet domain names. That body is known as: Internet Corporation For Assigned Names And Numbers (ICANN)
You choose a name and ask the Internet to search and tell you if anybody else is using that name. If that name is already registered, Internet will tell you, 'Sorry, that name is not available, please choose another one.' You keep on choosing until you find a name that is available.
Domain Registration is the process of registering the name you want for your website with a licensed company. ICANN has licensed a number of companies all over the world who have the capacity to carry out the registration and delicate maintenance of the names people will use for their websites and charge a small fee for the service. Those licensed companies are known as Domain Registrars. It costs an average of $10 a year to register a domain name. Your domain registration is complete when you identify a name you want, choose a Domain Registrar, supply your credentials and pay the registration fee.
Once we register your domain name, the next thing is to design and build your website. After building your website, we link it to your domain and publish it. Once it is published, anybody anywhere in the world can now go to a computer connected to the Internet, open an application called Internet Browser, type into the address bar: www.yourdomainname.com and voila! your office/showroom will appear on the screen of the computer. Then you can start interacting with the whole world through your own domain. Then you can dump Yahoo and Hotmail and all of them Web post offices that receive your mails for you, if you like, and have your own e-mail address at your own domain, something like, correspondence@yourdomain.com. It is the physical equivalent of saying bye-bye to the Post Office in your Area and building your own post office inside your own compound where all your letters and parcels will come. Your own e-mail at your own company dot com is better for the image of your company, it confers prestige on your business cards, it makes your clients take you more serious and have more confidence in you, and it makes your mails safer and less plagued by online spams and scams.
You can display goods in your showroom together with the prices, and people will be able to click on any product and buy it right there on the Web. Once a customer clicks on ‘Buy Now’ and supplies the necessary payment details, the Internet magic wand will go to the customers Bank, deduct the money for that product or service from the customer's account, go to your own Bank and deposit that money in your account, e-mail the customer and show him or her a receipt and allow them to download the product, if it is a digital one, e-mail you and tell you someone has just patronised you so you can ship the product, if it is a physical one; and all this Internet buying and selling and running up and down is so fast it can be completed before you finish reading this page. In this way, people will be buying your products and services on your website, your money streaming to the Bank while you sleep. That is the power of the Internet, but that power cannot work for you if you do not have a website and automate it, that is, equip it with the necessary tools to collect money for you.

Even if you are not ready to do it all at once, you can register only the domain name now and add other things when you want, like website design, hosting, etc., everything at your own pace. But it is advisable to reserve your own name before somebody else grabs it, especially if you already have a business name you like and are presently using, but which is not yet on the Internet. You can do what is known as Domain Parking and make some money with your domain until you are ready to use it. It is like you having a plot of land and you are not ready to build a house in it yet. You can rent it out to someone who wants to set up a small business in it (mechanic, restaurant, car wash etc) until you are ready to develop it. You can register your domain yourself or call us to register one for you.
One more thing; Domain Name registration is annual, valid for one year and must be renewed when it expires in order for the owner to continue being the owner of the domain. If you have not renewed your domain name registration six months after it expires, anybody in the world has the right to register that name as his or her own, and you lose out. Therefore, renew your domain registration before or at the time it expires. The Internet allows you to pay for your domain registration even as many as five years in advance, so you will rest assured that your domain name is secure for a long time before you renew again.
